One of the most meaningful things you can do during this time is to take pictures.  You will have those pictures to cherish for many years.  You may not be able to look at the pictures right away, but they will be there when you are ready.

It is healing to have the pictures to view and remember your baby. It is hard to think of taking pictures at such a sad time as this, but they will help you to heal and grow from the experience.

It is up to you, if you want to include siblings and other family members to be included in holding the baby and taking pictures. Allowing others, family members and siblings, to hold the baby helps in their grieving process as well.  It allows for the reality of the situation to become real.  Seeing and holding the baby helps you and others to grief in a more healthy way.

Sound Journeys is connected with a professional photographer who can take pictures of your baby in the hospital or in a location of your choice.  Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep is an non-profit organization providing professional photography and the pictures on a DVD disc.  This service is free the grieving families. We can connect you with a professional photographer to capture the precious moments of your baby’s life.  Visit their website at
