Memorials

How do you say good-bye to a dream of your baby? How do you say good-bye to a baby so young and who may only have little just a short time or only in the mother’s womb. There is no right or wrong way to say good-bye. At this time, your choice and desires should be met and to do what is comforting to you.

Sound Journeys is here to help with the memorial service.

If you need assistance with the memorial service, we can help you with this difficult task.  Here is a list of ways we can help you.

  • Pastoral care- we can assist you if you need a pastor or minister to conduct the service
  • Funeral homes- we have a list of most all the funeral homes in the Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama area
  • Special items- we can provide special music, poems, scripture, baby’s outfit, and blanket

Here are some things you may want to do to honor your baby during the memorial.

  • Hold your baby during the service.
  • Place your baby in a bassinet during the service rather than a casket.  You will have to use the casket for the burial.
  • Display photos of the baby for others to see. You can put them in pretty frames and display them during the memorial.
  • Dress the baby in a nice gown with a blanket, hat and socks or booties.
  • Place items in the casket with baby such as a favorite stuffed animal, or a baby ring.
  • Request special music, poem or scripture at the memorial.
  • Include siblings in the service if the you and the children wish to do so.  The siblings if old enough, can read poems or scripture.
  • Have your children draw a picture or write something for the baby.
